Sour Cream Cheddar and Chive Drop Biscuits

Ingredients 

  • 2 cups flour (or half and half with wholemeal flour)
  • 2tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 tablespoons frozen butter
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese
  • Chopped chives
  • 1 cup buttermilk (sub regular milk with vinegar, sit for 5 mins)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Method

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl
  2. Fine grate butter into bowl. Chop in until resembles coarse meal
  3. Add in cheese and chives
  4. Mix in milk and sour cream until just combined 
  5. Use spoons to drop into even balls on lined baking tray (makes approx 14-16 depending on size)
  6. Top each with some grated cheese
  7. Bake at 450F (230C) for 12-15 minutes or until just browned
