Hot Cross Buns
Easter Delight!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Warm Water
- 2 tbsp Yeast
- 6 cups Flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup Butter or Margarine
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 Eggs beaten, at room temperature
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup Mix Peel
Method
- Add 2 tsp of sugar to warm water, stir then add yeast
- Let yeast rise
- Add warm milk, sugar, butter and salt
- Add half the flour and stir until smooth
- Add eggs and beat well
- Add rest of flour until dough is soft and does not stick to bowl
- Place in greased bowl and cover with cloth to raise until double in size, approx 2-3hrs
- Knead dough down then make small balls
- Cut cross on top of balls
- Put on tray, cover and let rise until double in size
- Bake for 10 mins at 375F (190C)
- Then 15-20 mins at 350F (175C) until golden brown
- Frost buns while still warm
