Basic Sweet Dough

Used for cinnamon buns, raisin bread, hot cross buns...

Ingredients 

  • 2tsp sugar
  • 1cup warm water
  • 2packages yeast
  • 1cup milk
  • 1/4 cup margarine/butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2eggs
  • 6cups flour
  • 1.5 cups sugar 

Method

  1. Mix warm water and sugar in bowl. Add yeast and let it sit to ferment
  2. Warm milk, add sugar, eggs, butter and salt with yeast
  3. Add half flour and mix
  4. Knead and keep adding flour to make a smooth satiny dough. Knead for 8-10 minutes
  5. Place in greased bowl nd let raise until doubled in size (approx 1.5 hours)
  6. Punch dough down and use as desired
  7. Let dough rise again before baking
  8. Bake at 350F (30-40minutes for loaves)
