Basic Savoury White Bread

Use for cheese sticks, pesto rolls or loaves

Ingredients

  • 1tsp sugar
  • 1/4cup warm water
  • 1 package yeastt
  • 1cup milk
  • 1cup water
  • 1/8cup sugar
  • 2.5tsp salt
  • 1/8 cup margarine or shortening
  • 6-7 cups flour

Method

  1. mix warm water with sugar. Add yeast to ferment
  2. Warm milk. Add water sugar, salt shortening and stir
  3. Add to yeast
  4. Stir in half of flour
  5. Knead, adding more flour to make a smooth satiny dough. Knead for 8-10 minutes
  6. Put in greased bowl to raise until doubled in bulk
  7. Punch down and ready to use.
  8. Let dough raise agin before baking
  9. Bake at 350F (30-40 mins for loaves)
