Butter Sponge Cake (Pound/Shop Cake)

Ingredients

  • 1lb flour
  • 1lb sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 2tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • Essence

 

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. Sift flour with baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Add alternately with milk beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees until top is golden and cake tester comes out clean.
