Seow Kai

Si yau kai

Ingredients

  • Chicken
  • Ginger
  • Garlic
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • White pepper
  • Sugar (almost as much as soy sauce)
  • Dark soy sauce
  • Light soy sauce
  • Star anise
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Cut and clean chicken.
  2. Season with garlic, ginger, salt and white pepper.
  3. Lightly brown chicken in pot.
  4. Add soy sauce, sugar and star anise.
  5. Add a small amount of water.
  6. Cover and cook until done.
