Bechamel Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 small onion diced
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 2 cups cream (15-30%, can replace with milk)
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 egg (optional)
- salt
- pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground all-spice (optional)
Instructions
- In a sauce pan, melt butter. Lightly sweat onions and whisk in flour.
- Add cream. Cook whisking constantly until it reaches a simmer.
- Add milk. Bring to a light steam.
- Add spices. Whip egg and mix in.
- Whisk a few more times and cook until thick.
