Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 cups cream (15-30%, can replace with milk)
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 egg (optional)
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground all-spice (optional)

 

Instructions

  1. In a sauce pan, melt butter. Lightly sweat onions and whisk in flour.
  2. Add cream. Cook whisking constantly until it reaches a simmer.
  3. Add milk. Bring to a light steam.
  4. Add spices. Whip egg and mix in.
  5. Whisk a few more times and cook until thick.
