Korean Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • garlic powder

 

  1. Mix ingredients in bowl.
  2. Whisk together adding water to achieve pancake batter-like consistency
  3. Add filling (see ideas below) to batter and mix. Fillings can be powdered with flour to make sure they don't get too wet.
  4. Fry with oil in pan, making sure not to make pancake too thick.
  5. Serve with dipping sauce made from 2 parts soy sauce and 1 part vinegar.

Filling

Filling can be whatever you like, but here are some ideas:

  • Kimchi (cut into tiny pieces)
  • Seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops)
  • Kowchoi (garlic chives; cut into 1" strips)
  • Green Onions
  • Bean Sprouts
  • Perilla leaves (ginip)
