Checkered Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup butter
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- Salt
- 2 2/3 cups flour sifted
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 egg white, beaten
Instructions
- Beat butter, sugar and salt until creamy.
- Add flour, knead, divide into two bowls.
- Add cocoa to one half. Refrigerate for half hour.
- Divide each into 5 pieces. Roll 1 colour into 5 long rolls.
- Other colour into 4.
- Arrange 9 rolls into checker board design, brushing and sealing with egg white.
- Roll remaining dough out to wrap around checkered roll.
- Seal with egg white. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Cut into ¼ inch slices.
- Bake 10-15mins.
