Checkered Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • Salt
  • 2 2/3 cups flour sifted
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 egg white, beaten

 

Instructions 

  1. Beat butter, sugar and salt until creamy.
  2. Add flour, knead, divide into two bowls.
  3. Add cocoa to one half. Refrigerate for half hour.
  4. Divide each into 5 pieces. Roll 1 colour into 5 long rolls.
  5. Other colour into 4.
  6. Arrange 9 rolls into checker board design, brushing and sealing with egg white.
  7. Roll remaining dough out to wrap around checkered roll.
  8. Seal with egg white. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  9. Cut into ¼ inch slices.
  10. Bake 10-15mins.
