Beef Pies
Ingredients
Meat
- 1 1/2 lb Lean Ground beef
- Finely chopped onions
- Green onions
- Garlic
- Thyme
- Red bell peppers
- Celery
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Lea and Perrins
- Hot pepper sauce
- Squeeze of ketchup
- 1 tbsp Corn starch
- Peas
- Carrots
Pastry
Instructions
- Cook the meat until well browned.
- Drain off all excess fat.
- Add all seasonings and cook until done.
- Add ketchup, peas, carrots and cornstarch.
- Cool meat. Meat can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated before use.
- Make Rich and Flaky Plain Pastry. Pastry can be made a day ahead and refridgerated before use.
- Cut pastry into circles, place in 2" foil cups and fill with meat.
- Cover pies with pastry, seal rim with fork and prick tops to ventilate.
- Brush pie tops with beaten egg.
- Bake at 400F for 12-15mins or until golden brown.
