Beef Pies

Ingredients

 

Meat

  • 1 1/2 lb Lean Ground beef
  • Finely chopped onions
  • Green onions
  • Garlic
  • Thyme
  • Red bell peppers
  • Celery
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Lea and Perrins
  • Hot pepper sauce
  • Squeeze of ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Corn starch
  • Peas
  • Carrots

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat until well browned.
  2. Drain off all excess fat.
  3. Add all seasonings and cook until done.
  4. Add ketchup, peas, carrots and cornstarch.
  5. Cool meat. Meat can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated before use.
  6. Make Rich and Flaky Plain Pastry. Pastry can be made a day ahead and refridgerated before use.
  7. Cut pastry into circles, place in 2" foil cups and fill with meat.
  8. Cover pies with pastry, seal rim with fork and prick tops to ventilate.
  9. Brush pie tops with beaten egg.
  10. Bake at 400F for 12-15mins or until golden brown.
